Job Description:
The BIT, LLC is seeking an experienced Software Developer to support the design, development, and implementation of software solutions for the Aeronautical Navigation Office.  The ideal candidate has a familiarity with and a baseline understanding of software development concepts, developing coding skills using different tools, and ambition towards future projects in support of the mission. 

Responsibilities:
This position involves collaborating with Product Owners, QA Managers, the Chief Architect and development teams in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions supporting customer needs, mission objectives, and product requirements. The candidate practices a SAFe Agile workflow by participating in daily team coordination, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives. The candidate participates in planning activities, reviews and implements software requirements, supports task execution, and contributes to deployment activities. The role applies software development and troubleshooting experience to resolve defects, maintain secure and agency compliant code baselines, participate in code reviews, and document technical solutions. The candidate also helps ensure overall system code coverage remains above 80% while supporting software quality, performance, and continuous improvement.

Program hours 8am-4pm CST with core 10am-2pm.  Occasional evening or weekend work can be required.  When required, schedule changes will be arranged.  Typical work week is onsite 3-4 days a week in office with support of a hybrid (WFH) schedule contingent with Program Management’s approval.  Tuesdays at STL Grand office and Thursdays at the O’Fallon Illinois office minimum. 

Core Qualifications:
  • Primary responsibilities will involve building software coding knowledge providing the system administration and modification of existing GOTS code to integrate open-source software solutions for display in a web application.
  • This role will work with programming languages to include C#/Java and JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Shell scripting. 
  • Creation and documentation of new and existing functionality within software version control repositories (gitlab) and utilizing DevOps principals and tools to deliver new features within an Agile construct.
  • Participate in program Agile software development initiatives (standup, planning, Increment planning) to support applications through iteration/functionality utilizing Atlassian (Jira/Confluence)
  • Participate and collaborate with team members to assess tickets to ensure proper testing and delivery of functionality per User Story Acceptance Criteria
  • Proactive self-starter demonstrates a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in either software development projects or software integration projects in a service-oriented environment (Cloud, SOA, Web-Services) or virtualization environment.
  • Requires strong knowledge of core technical principles with awareness of connected technical areas.
  • Organizational Skills: Can plan and prioritize work. Follow tasks to their logical conclusion and make sure that everything has been done to the right standard. Good attention to detail.
  • Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with team members and clients, verbally and in writing. Able to present ideas in a variety of ways depending upon audience and context. Develops technical solutions and collaborates with team members regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.
  • Must possess a TS with ability to obtain SCI and Poly CI.
  • DoD 8570 Certification Compliance (IAT Level 2/3)
  • Requires BS degree and & 4+ years of prior relevant experience OR, MS with 3+ years of prior relevant experience; OR 4 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Familiar with System Engineering documentation creation (VDDs, diagrams, etc.).
  • Familiar with team collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, RocketChat).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience with DOD software requirements.
  • At least 4 years of experience working in a government cloud environment.
  • AWS Solutions or DevOps certification
  • Team Collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
