The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking FOIA Analysts to support the full lifecycle of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. You’ll play a vital role in promoting government transparency by ensuring requests are handled accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with federal law.

What You’ll Do
As a FOIA Analyst, you’ll serve as a subject-matter expert in FOIA processing. Your day-to-day will include:
Reviewing and tracking new requests in FOIAXpress.
Drafting acknowledgment letters and categorizing cases.
Coordinating with program offices, custodians, and attorneys to locate records.
Guiding staff on search strategies and compliance standards.
Reviewing and analyzing records for responsiveness.
Redacting sensitive information and applying statutory exemptions.
Preparing polished response packages, including Vaughn indices.
Producing leadership and compliance reports.
Ensuring all released materials meet Section 508 accessibility standards.
Supporting appeals, litigation, and discovery actions when required.
Maintaining complete and organized case files.
Delivering clear, professional communication to requesters and stakeholders.
Contributing to backlog reduction and improving processing timelines.
Assisting in developing SOPs and mentoring team members.
What We’re Looking For
Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent.
Experience: 2–3 years in FOIA processing.
Knowledge: Strong grasp of FOIA/Privacy Act statutes and exemptions.
Technical Skills: FOIAXpress (or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, attention to detail, multitasking, and organization.
