Overview:
Bailey Information Technology, LLC (BIT, LLC) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Writer to support ongoing Service Desk operations for a federal client. This is a full-time position focused solely on the creation and management of technical documentation that supports Managed Service Desk, Chief Information Officer (CIO) and broader IT functions.

This role is critical to ensuring that all knowledge assets are clear, accurate, up-to-date, and accessible—empowering IT staff and end users alike with the information they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary Technical Writer supporting documentation needs across the Service Desk and CIO environments.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality technical documentation including:
    • Knowledge base articles and repositories
    • Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    • User guides and online help
    • Process and workflow documentation (including visualizations in Visio)
    • Requirements documents and use cases
    • White papers and technical communications
    • Documentation for escalations to Tier III and Engineering teams
    • Contributions to internal publications (e.g., OIGNEWSLINK articles)
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to industry standards, version control best practices, and customer formatting/style guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with COR, COTRs, engineers, and CIO team members to gather and validate content.
  • Manage and maintain the technical documentation repository with strong version control and accessibility practices.
  • Provide ongoing support to ensure documentation remains accurate and up to date as procedures evolve.
Position Guidelines:
  • Full-Time position with potential for some telecommuting upon approval by the Operations Manager and COR or designee.
  • Must foster effective communication and collaboration with all levels of technical and management staff.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of technical writing experience within an IT environment.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and formatting skills with an emphasis on clarity and accuracy.
  • Ability to distill complex technical information into easily digestible content for varied audiences.
  • Proficiency in tools including Microsoft Word, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with version control and documentation repository management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a Public Trust clearance.
